Magalies Guest House

Little Forest Farm Guest House near Magalies is a place to get away from your day-to-day and relax. We’re around an hour and a half from Joburg and Pretoria, roughly 20km West of Magaliesburg village.

There are 3 accommodation units, the Garden Suite that sleeps 2, the Loft Apartment that sleeps 4,  and the new Cottage sleeping 6. The Loft and The Cottage are both self-catering whereas the Garden Suite is not. We do however offer home-cooked meals from our Farm Kitchen.

Being 100% off the grid means no load shedding but we do need to manage power usage by limiting energy-hungry appliances such as electric kettles, air fryers, hair dryers and heaters. The rooms therefore do not have microwave ovens or TVs. We use a septic tank system so please don’t throw anything other than toilet paper in the loo.

When you stay with us you’ll have access to the entire farm. You can take leisurely walks through the forest down to the dam. Here we can set up a picnic table if you’d like to spend some time there.

We try to reduce waste as far as possible and to use what’s already here. We’ve used stones for building and we harvest dead wood to fire our “donkeys” for hot water. To reduce water consumption, the rooms have showers and no baths and there is no swimming pool.
